Expanded its work force and its mission. The company began to promote, hire and represent performing artists. Event planning and concert productions were organized and implemented by the president and her staff.
In 1997 the City of Newark began to search for someone to develop cultural programming throughout the city. Ms. Moten was appointed to initiate and supervise these events such as The Newark Blues Festival, The Newark Jazz Connection, Let’s Celebrate Newark Festival, Summer Arts and Music Camps, and The 20 Jazz Elders Honoring Program. Performers like Abby Lincoln, Paquito D’Rivera, Jon Hendricks, Max Roach, Jimmy McGriff, Shirley Winston, Jon Faddis, The Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, and Newark’s own Rhoda Scott and James Moody were some of the artist hired by Ms. Moten for events.
The venues for her programs have included large and small theatres/auditoriums, churches and synagogues, night club and restaurant settings, and outdoor festivals that have singularly garnered more than 20,000 spectators.
